An Homage to Greenies in Second Life

Invasion: A Tribute to the Greenies Home (moderate)

You land in a garden outside a house – much like many small gardens on the grid. However, as you look around, things don’t seem quite right. Then you notice tiny creatures beaming down from a spaceship and all thoughts of normal must be put away.

The truth, you realize, is that you’ve landed on LEA23 in the middle of an Invasion.

For those Residents who were around in Second Life between 2007 and 2010 the experience may be very familiar. This is a tribute, an homage, to the legendary Greenies Home created by the Rezzables.

This installation by Sniper Siemens brings back those memories of being reduced to the size of a mouse as you explore a giant home. You’ll find karts for racing (look under the cupboard next to the sink) and small doorways which take you to odd things, such as a cannon you can use to shoot yourself across the room.

This isn’t a copy of the original, but it is a loving tribute. Sniper includes links to the Rezzables, and their original creations, and adds his own touches.

Whether you experienced the world of the Greenies or not, this is a fun place to visit. My visit brought back a lot of good memories and created many new ones. :)
