An Inworld Directory Led Me to Meiji Japan in Second Life

By a very circuitous route this morning, I happened upon an inworld directory of locations called the Community Cultural Hub.

Administered by two representatives of the Virginia Society for Technology in Education, this is a “resource directory of ethnic, cultural and historical communities for use by educators”. Nothing says we can’t use it though. :)

The Directory provides links to communities which pride themselves on “cohesiveness in culture, tradition, ritual, (and) values”. They are arranged by categories such as Spiritual and The Arts. You can have your Community added as well.

I chose to visit one I hadn’t heard of before, Little Yoshiwara, a town in the Japanese Meiji period. This is a gorgeous sim populated by friendly and beautifully dressed residents.

I heartily recommend both locations!

  1. Glad you made it to Little Yoshiwara. I was apprentice geisha there in 2009 and had Zen gardens on adjacent sims for several years. They do a great job as a role play community.
