Taking a Porcelain Trip in Second Life
I took a little trip this morning. Although I visit various locations on an almost daily basis, this time the words have a pun embedded in them.
If you’re an old hippie then the name of the sim, Aldous Huxley↑, brings back only one kind of memories. The man himself↑ should be known for many things; teacher (bad), intellectual (great), writer (Brave New World ring a bell?), editor, spiritualist, etc., etc., etc.
Back in the 60s, reading BNW was a mandatory rite of passage. Once you had though, the primary reason for discussions about Huxley revolved around his experiments with psychedelic pharmaceuticals.
I have NO idea what’s going on here. I can make a few guesses – it talks about Project PossUM (Possibilities Unlimited Museum) – but I can say that finding myself on a giant floating plate, in a landscape of blue & white porcelain, is like something out of a Huxley dream. The rest of my day should be interesting.
