A Tranquil Escape from the Noise of Reality in Second Life

Today millions of people are dealing with Mother Nature and natural disasters – for the rest of us who can do nothing but worry for them, I offer glimpses of a tranquil escape inworld.

Annabelle Fanshaw↑ sent me this landmark (thank you!) and it’s both lovely and unusual. Visiting Majesterium↑ you’ll find a formal house and garden built on, and incorporating, a grotto.

I say incorporating because waterfalls and art have been added to the natural-seeming rock and water channel. As usual I haven’t done the build justice, but I hope you get some sense of it.

Formality in design can go one of two ways. It can seem cold and austere or, as in this case, it can result in a sense of calm and isolation. It’s a good way to shut out the noise of reality.
