Spooky Season in Second Life (pt 3), Tims Dreams

Take a break from your lives. Pause the fast forward of your day and walk through Tim’s dreamscape. Romy Nayar↑, she of the Papermakis↑ and (with the amazing Ux Hax↑) the You Choose↑ exhibits, gives us the opportunity to invade and explore his sleeping mind.

Together Romy and Ux curate Per4mance MetaLES O↑, one of my very favourite places on the grid. This new installation of Romy’s work is fabulous.

I didn’t want to mess with the default windlight settings, but they are very dark. So to try and give you images you could actually see I experimented with “tone mapping”.  And no, I have no idea what I’m doing but at least you’ll have some sense of what awaits.

Your first experience with Tim involves his apparent fear of being sucked into a vacuum. Poor kid!

The characters and scenes are superbly well done. I’ve always enjoyed her work with prims but her new venture into mesh is a delight. Yes, I am a huge fan of her work and would probably love anything she presented, but I didn’t see anything that suggested this is a new medium for her, it’s beautiful – if creepy.

There’s a witch that fits right in to the Halloween season. This is not your typical witch but she is enough to give anybody nightmares. Somehow the fact that she’s pregnant just makes it worse. I don’t know if this little guy is a compatriot or her next victim – whatever, it will take me a long time to forget their little scene.

If I have any complaint it’s that I wanted more. One word of caution – that cart he’s dragging, you might find yourself inside. You’d better hope Tim wakes up before you’re submerged in the ocean.

Go explore Tims Dreams↑. You have until November 12th.
